We all have our “things” – guilty pleasures, hobbies, things that make us smile. 🙂
Those “things” help us unwind after a long day, have a good laugh, and keep a finger on our sense of self.
They are things that we just like and therefore help keep us in balance.
Here’s what’s keeping me balanced this summer…
“House of Cards” Season 4 (Netflix) – This season picks up right where the last one left off in the Presidential election. What I am loving about it right now is that they’ve pulled out all the stops and it is equal parts addicting and ridiculous.
And, need I mention Robin Wright? Flawless.
“Southern Charm” (Bravo) – I’ve been binging the first three seasons of this show and I am all in! It’s just the right amount of debauchery mixed with lunacy, and wrapped up in southern tradition to keep me watching episode after episode after episode…
Power Your Happy (Book by Lisa Sugar)
Lisa Sugar, founder of POPSUGAR, writes about the beginnings of her empire and how she avoids “a case of the Mondays and the need for cheers on FriYAY.” It is a quick and upbeat read that will inspire your creativity and get you thinking.
“Twins Mommy” (Blog by Elna Cain)
I LOVE this blog. Elna is a work-at-home mom who is relatively new to the blogging world, but has found created overwhelming success for herself and her family. Her blog has amazing posts about how to start and grow your own blog. Definitely a great resource!
It is summer break, so I’m not teaching right now, which means it is time for me to go full-force into building this blog. 🙂 I just switched my email service from MailChimp to MailerLite, and I love it so far! I feel like MailChimp is better suited for a larger company, and I was getting lost in trying to make the features work for me. MailerLite is free until 1000 subscribers and a lot more user-friendly for a little blog like mine.
I wish I could get on the “rose all day” train, but I am still healing a stomach ulcer so no alcohol for me… Also, adult beverages + my kids + hot weather = I’m an unproductive trainwreck.
I’m all about the cold brew coffee, though. It is just what I want, especially with some almond milk creamer added in, and low enough in acidity that my stomach can handle it. Woo! 🙂
I’m all about rompers right now – it took me some looking to find a couple rompers that don’t make me look like I’m trying to wear teenager clothes… I love them because they are simple, make me feel cute and put together, and easy to wear while running around after my kids. BONUS – find rompers with pockets and it will change your life!
It’s been so damn hot around here I don’t even have to light my CHOOSE HAPPINESS candle – it just gets melty sitting on the counter! I’ve been a big fan of this candle for a long time, but especially in the summer when bright citrus scents are what I’m craving…
Right now, I am all about the Tone It Up girls and their workouts from this year’s Bikini Series (not that this body is going to be in a bikini ever again… two babies later… HA!) I went ahead and bought the Beach Babe 5 workouts (only $34), but they have TONS of free workouts on their website. My favorite workout from the series is the BIKINI YOGA workout – it’s free, 20 minutes (so I can try and do it before anyone else is awake in the house), gentle on my old lady knees, and gets a good sweat going.
